This Day in Disney History: Walt Disney receives a special Academy Award for “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”
Best Directors on Fresh Air
Alexander Payne, The Descendants
Michel Hazanavicius, The Artist
Martin Scorsese, Hugo
Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris
Terrence Malick, Tree of Life
Woody Allen or Martin Scorsese. But, I enjoyed Hugo more.
My Oscars Predictions: 2010 Best Year In Movies
BEST PICTURE - Either Black Swan, The King’s Speech, The Social Network, or Toy Story 3 (All such different movies. Idk how they’d decide this.)
ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE - Colin Firth
ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE - Christian Bale
ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE - Natalie Portman
ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE - Melissa Leo
ANIMATED FEATURE FILM - Toy Story 3
ART DIRECTION - Inception
CINEMATOGRAPHY - The Social Network or Black Swan (This is a hard one.)
COSTUME DESIGN - No idea. Alice In Wonderland, possibly?
DIRECTING - Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) or David Fincher (The Social Network)
FILM EDITING - The Social Network (SO DIFFICULT. All nominees are awesome.)
MUSIC (ORIGINAL SCORE) - The Social Network
MUSIC (ORIGINAL SONG) - Tangled “I See The Light” (If Alan Menken doesn’t win…)
SHORT FILM (ANIMATED) - Teddy Newton “Day & Night” (I’m biased though. Pixar forever.)
SOUND EDITING - Inception (I’m confused why Black Swan isn’t nominated.)
SOUND MIXING - The Social Network or Inception… (Hm…)
VISUAL EFFECTS - Inception or Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 1 (HP only because I literally just watched it and it’s fresh in my mind.)
WRITING (ADAPTED SCREENPLAY) - The Social Network or Toy Story 3
WRITING (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY) - The Fighter, The Kids Are All Right, or The King’s Speech
Perez’s words not mine.
Everyone who is nominated deserves it. I’m pretty sure they weren’t chosen because they’re white. Can you think of any ‘colored’ person who deserves an Oscar over these actors? Once you do, get back to me. We can argue then.
PS. As a yellow person, I’d rather be up for an award because I’m good, not because of affirmative action.
In current magical news, Disney scores 12 Oscar nominations for 6 films.
Congrats to Alan Menken’s on his 19th nomination.
NOMINATIONS ARE OUT.
All I can say is… predictable.
Although, like everyone else in the world, I’m still confused about Christopher Nolan.
OH and F*CK YOU BURLESQUE :) Sorry, I’m still bitter from the Golden Globes.
